# Change your PHP version and settings

https://vmshost.io/kb/a/change-your-php-version-and-settings

phpVMS 7 needs PHP 8.1 or later. The minimum version that's provided by vmshost currently is 8.3 - phpvms will work fine with it. Your current PHP version is on the **Overview** tab of your hosting plan in the client area.

## Change the PHP version

1. Open your hosting plan in the client area. On the **Management** tab, click **PHP Version**.
2. Select the domain or subdomain that runs phpVMS.
3. Choose the PHP version and click **Apply**.

Each domain and subdomain can use a different PHP version. If you change it, change your cron job to the same version. See [Set up the phpVMS cron job](https://vmshost.io/knowledgebase/article/set-up-the-phpvms-cron-job).

## Change PHP settings

On the **Management** tab, click **PHP INI Editor**. Here you can change settings such as `memory_limit`, `upload_max_filesize` and `max_execution_time` for each domain.

## PHP extensions

phpVMS needs these PHP extensions: bcmath, cURL, fileinfo, intl, JSON, mbstring, OpenSSL, PDO, SimpleXML, tokenizer and zip.

The phpVMS installer checks them for you. If it reports that one is missing, open a ticket and tell us which one.
